Facade waterproofing membrane:
Diasen water-repellent solutions

Diasen contributed to the construction of the building by providing the solution for facade waterproofing membrane from rain and weather. The rain barrier reinforces the optical effect of an ark sailing through the rough seas of the land in which it is immersed.

Architect: Robert Konieczny
Time of realization: 2 weeks
Location: Poland

Photographer: Jakub Certowicz

Intervention: facade waterproofing membrane

Water repellency

α = 0,1 m2/Ms

The low diffusivity value indicates a high degree of heat insulation and thus greater comfort and savings for summer cooling

Weathering Test

1680 hours (10 years)

Protection providing long-lasting water shielding

Permeability

μ = 7

Thanks to the high permeability, indoor humidity is perfectly balanced, preventing the formation of mould and condensation.

Technical insights

Diasen contributed to the waterproofing of the exterior façade by offering a waterproofing solution over its entire surface with the water-repellent BKK Eco, which provides a rain barrier to the substrate.

The house was designed by Robert Konieczny inspired by a primordial structure: the biblical ark. As the architect himself stated, the development of the project “was entirely consequential” in order to merge his own architectural vision and the functionality of a structure designed to adapt to its surroundings into a single creation.

Here is the focus on the BKK Eco waterproofing solution to make the façade and the entire exterior surface of the building water-repellent.

Facade waterproofing membrane

Water is the first agent of degradation of structures: aesthetic, and in the most serious cases structural damage, both for historic buildings and new constructions. Also and above all as a consequence of recent climate changes, which have drastically altered the rainfall regime to such an extent that in just a few hours an amount of water equal to that of an entire season is produced – it is necessary to protect buildings.

Therefore, effectively protecting the external envelope to prevent critical issues related to infiltration and dampness in walls becomes a crucial aspect in a building industry increasingly dedicated to the renovation and redevelopment of the existing building stock.

It is essential to know and prevent the most common problems that can occur, evaluating the best solution that can offer a balance between performance, efficiency and durability. All this without neglecting the aspects of ecology and impact on the environment that represent an essential criterion of sustainable building.

Here, the new external façade waterproofing solutions not only prevent water from penetrating the building and damaging the structures and materials with which it was built over time, but also respect the environment and not damage it. Their purpose is therefore to stop water seeping in from basement rooms, roofs, terraces and balconies and why not, to be able to collect it and make it usable because it is clean.
