Comfort of enjoying coffee

Since October 2011, the “Vienna Coffee Culture” has been considered “intangible cultural heritage”. This recognition was given to it for a centenary coffee culture , which developed strongly under the Austro-Hungarian Empire, thanks to the traders who imported the beans from Africa. Zagreb, which at the time was part of the imperial territory of the Habsburgs, underwent a great influence, not only for the quantity of coffee consumption, but also as a meeting place, which became symbol of imperial social life . This is the case of the Kavkaz Caffè, located right in front of the National Theater of the Croatian capital.

The technical pillars of the intervention

The Diasen Dehumidifying System was chosen to redevelop the walls of the very central Kavkaz Caffè in Zagreb, located right in front of the National Theater of the Croatian capital. The structure was subject to serious problems of capillary rising damp due to the high water table and to infiltrations in negative pressure: for this reason the walls were first treated with the protective barrier WATstop while to ensure a correct dehumidifying performance, they were coated with light cork-based plaster Diathonite Deumix + and finished with the smoothing Argatherm while Diathonite Screed , the low thickness thermal and ecological screed, was applied to the floor of the structure.
