In Rua do Loreto, near Largo do Camões, at the confluence of Baixa/Chiado with Bairro Alto and Bica, there is still a cinema today, which is the oldest cinema in Lisbon. Open since 1904, it has known several names over the years: Salão Ideal, Cinema Ideal, Cine Camões and Cine Paraíso. It is a cinema whose last major renovation dates back to the 1950s, but which still retains all the charm of a “neighborhood cinema”, with foyer, balcony and stalls. This cinema has been the subject of a profound renovation and restoration work. It is an intervention that has given birth to a new cinema and a new space for cultural and urban animation. In this intervention Diathonite Acoustix soundproofing plaster was used for the ‘ reverb elimination on all walls and ceilings, keeping intact the characteristics and complex geometries of the room.
