In a world dominated by excess, Diasen chooses the path of subtraction: a creative act that frees matter from the superfluous, restoring its most authentic and profound voice.

The project creates a dialogue between cork, lime, and colour to redefine the relationship between space, perception, and matter. An immersive experience where design becomes the breath of nature.

    The Project Triad:

    Matter, Form, and Colour

    I

    Profound Matter

Cork emerges in its purest form, offering a living and warm surface.
    II

    Welcoming Form

The geometries enhance the virtues of biophilic mortar and complement the aesthetics of cork, creating volumes that engage with the space.
    III

    Chromatic Alchemy

Colour integrates with the structure, featuring tones that evoke the earth, minerals, and the shades of the Mediterranean scrub.
From Technical Design to Structural Sails

    Engineering

The construction of the substructure began with the architect’s original sketches, which were used to develop detailed technical drawings and the breakdown of individual elements.

    Nesting

The production began with precision-milling the components using nesting technology, ensuring maximum material efficiency and the perfect layout of the elements.

    Structural Assembly

Each of the four ‘sails’ is divided into several vertical blocks made of marine-grade plywood for outdoor use. Each block consists of two side panels and 6 to 14 horizontal structural shelves. The work is then clad with plywood.

    Uniform Application

Finally, a thin 3mm-thick layer of Forex was inserted between columns, protruding by about 2cm. This serves as a technical spacer to ensure the uniform application of the bio-mortar during the finishing phase.

The Kenosis Application Cycle: From Surface Prep to Textured Finish

    LAYER I Aquabond Primer

The process begins by preparing the wooden supports with Aquabond primer, which promotes the adhesion of the bio-mortar even on smooth surfaces, ensuring system uniformity and stability.

    LAYER II Diathonite Evolution

A biophilic mortar based on cork, lime, clay, and diatomaceous earth. Applied at a thickness of approximately 1.5 cm, it is then sanded to achieve a smooth texture with exposed cork, expressing visual depth and tactile quality.

    LAYER III Revela Color

Applied in two coats to build a layered chromatic surface. The palette engages with the material, amplifying light, texture, and the perception of space.

    Miele Elicriso
    Legno Salmastro
    Velluto Gallura
    Silice Iblei

LAYER IV Decork & Revela Clear

The flooring follows a consistent cycle: after preparation with Color Primer, Decork Mediterraneo Fine is applied a cork-based paint spread by spatula and finished to obtain a smooth, velvety surface.

The final treatment with Revela Clear, applied in three coats, ensures protection and durability while preserving the aesthetic and sensory qualities of the coating.
