Recovering surplus cork from the production of stoppers and using it in construction, eliminating all waste.

This is the circular economy model implemented by Diasen, a company that received the “Leadership in Enterprise and Sustainability” award yesterday afternoon in Milan, as part of PreCop26, promoted by Green Building Council Italia (GBC Italia), an association committed to encouraging the transition of the sector towards environmentally friendly criteria.

“GBC Italy is a reference point of high profile in the world of sustainable constructionsaid Diego Mingarelli, President of Diasen -, a reality that brings together important companies and professionals in the field, as well as being part of an international network of great authority. For this reason, being awarded by GBC Italy as a leading company in sustainability is a great honour, as well as a great responsibility that encourages us to continue and multiply the commitment of Diasen for a green economy and a building industry able to meet the challenges of the future”.

The award was consigned by Marco Mari, president of GBC Italia, for whom this recognition aims to enhance the best experiences at all levels, even in smaller companies, because change is only possible through widespread commitment.

GBC Italia is a non-profit association that is part of the World GBC, a network present in more than 70 countries that represents the world’s largest international organisation active in the sustainable construction market. Together with 9 other international organisations, it worked to bring the sector’s centrality to the attention of Cop26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

As GBC Italia reports, construction is responsible for around 39% of global CO2 emissions, of which 10% is accounted for by CO2 emissions “embedded” in construction materials and processes throughout the building’s life cycle.

The GBC Italia “Leadership in Enterprise and Sustainability” Award is given to companies that have made sustainability a central element of their business model and are actively contributing to change.
