The waterproofing to positive thrust include the creation of a layer of waterproof material applied directly on the surface that needs to be waterproofed, whether flat, sloping or vertical. Regardless of the material waterproofing capacity that is required to use, the creation of adequate slopes for proper drainage of water is an aspect that highly contributes to the success of waterproofing interventions.

Especially in the case of particularly large areas of intervention, and therefore subject to inevitable structural movements and dilatation, a key feature is undoubtedly the elasticity of the waterproofing layer that needs to be achieved. An elastic waterproofing layer will be able to go along the dilatation movements, without giving rise to lesions or cracks that inevitably would allow water to seep.

Another very important aspect to take into consideration is the continuity of the waterproofing layer to be carried out. The waterproofing traditional technologies based on the preparation of rolls of bitumen membranes, for example, have many overlaps and joints, due to product misapplication, dilatation movements or simply wear, that can be a way for water infiltration.

The ease of application of a waterproofing material must be considered: to minimize the probability of error from of the applicator the systems must be simple and of rapid implementation, contributing to the success of the entire work.
