For the success of waterproofing interventions, an aspect not to overlook is the treatment of critical points. Vertical and horizontal joints, expansion joints and loops represent elements which it is more likely the occurrence of water infiltration, and therefore they must be treated and sealed with the maximum care and attention.
These are areas where you need to create a stronger and durable waterproofing, able to withstand structural movement and dilatation, or where it may be necessary to achieve higher thicknesses with the waterproofing material used.
The solutions adopted for the treatment of critical points generally consist in the use of sealants that can waterproof and at the same time "fill" the area affected, as in the case of an expansion joint.
In case of treatment of vertical and horizontal joints and all other sharp edges which may be on a surface, they are used instead elastic bands to be coupled to the waterproofing layer in order to strengthen it at the points of major stress of the structure.
