External thermal insulation

The external thermal insulation is the creation of an insulating layer on the external façade of the perimeter wall. This construction technique is the most carried out as it ensures better results in terms of energy performance of the wall.

The advantages of thermal insulation applied to the external facade are several:

• Exploitation of the thermal inertia of the wall: during winter season, the heat produced by the heating system, will tend to cross the wall until reaching the insulating layer, which significantly slow down the dispersion. During this transition, the wall will tend to warm up and thanks to the high mass of materials, it will gradually release heat inward, even when the heating system is off, allowing to fully exploit the capacity of heat storage of the masonry.
• Complete correction of thermal bridges: applying the insulating layer on the outside, it is possible to avoid the heat losses due to the presence of thermal bridges, which will remain inside the insulating layer.
• Faster building system: overcoming the technique of wall box or empty box, external thermal insulation significantly speeds up building time.
• Protection of masonry: the external thermal insulation protects the walls from weathering agents, restricting the thermal expansion and thus increasing the durability of the materials used.
