Water repellent treatment of a stone masonry

In this work it was used the colourless coating, breathable and water repellent BKK to make a water repellent external facades of a one familiar villa in Località Colle Bigo, Fabriano (AN).

The walls, realized with stone masonry and bedding mortar, had problems of eccessive absorption of rain water. During the colder and more rainy period of the year these infiltrations reached the internal walls of the building, with a following detachment of the paint, plus the thermal problems caused by a wet wall.

Using BKK, applied over the entire external facades, it was possible to eliminate any absorption of water by the masonry, without altering the aspect and the breathability features. BKK, thanks to its high penetrating power into the substrate, can make the surface completely water repellent, without altering the aspect. SInce BKK does not form a film, even the original breathability of the support remains unchanged.
